Adventures in Jogja - Batik Painting

Most people who know me well (...or even know me a little bit!) know I enjoy painting, usually with oil paint but sometimes with watercolors or acrylics. When I was in Jogja in early March I tried my hand at batik painting - you basically use a little tool to draw a picture with melted beeswax, then paint around the outline, wait till the paint dries and then 'boil' the painting until the beeswax comes off and ta-da! I created my first batik painting in about 3 hours!

Drawing with melted wax....

The drawing as I was waiting for the wax to solidify...

Starting to apply the paint...

The (almost) finished painting...

The result, drying in the sun :-)
