Singapore - Sweet Sanity!

I think I may have mentioned this before - but there are very (very!) limited flights into and out of Dili. Basically - one flight per day to Darwin, Australia; one flight per day to Bali, Indonesia; and 2 flights per week to Singapore. Since I needed to go to Bangkok for work meetings, I thought I would try going through Singapore rather than Bali as I have done before - and it was a great choice! I ended up staying 2 nights and enjoying a 'mini' break, just relaxing & shopping and being duly impressed by the order, sanity and cleanliness :-)

Here is a view from my hotel room....

....and a pic of the Clarke Quay tourist area...

While in Singapore, I also had a chance to catch up with a friend that I used to work with at Accenture - he and I taught a management course near Chicago about 6-7 years ago and had not seen each other since. Then my roommate and close friend from Aceh arrived en route from Australia back to Indonesia, and we had a chance to catch up and have an 'early' birthday dinner. I even tried the infamous Singapore Sling - just so that I could say I have had a Singapore Sling in Singapore :-)
