Bangkok Blitz!

After my 'mini' break in Singapore, I was in Bangkok for 10 days attending a series of events and meetings for work, the first of which was a youth media event showcasing the creativity of youth from 6 Asian countries, focused on themes related to stopping violence in schools, families, etc - interspersed with Thai traditional and contempary cultural presentations ... a very interesting combination...

The event was intense, fuelled by the kids' energy and enthusiasm - which made me realize (as if I did not know it already!) that I am no longer a teenager. In fact, I am arguably twice as old as some teenagers - eek!

Here's a few photos from the celebrations....

Thai traditional dance

Youth band from Indonesia
(who later sang 'Happy Birthday' to me during one of their concerts...)

Poster showing level of violence in some societies....

A popular Thai boy band - some local Thai girls were actually shrieking in excitement when they came on stage - I am sure I was never silly like that ;-)

A poster showing the 'before' and 'after' situations in relation to violence in their community....

The event wrapped up with a gala ceremony and dinner on the evening of Oct 4th (my birthday!) - and then it was onto a series of meetings the next week....
