back to blogging....Tasi Tolu & a little demonstration

WOW! It's been a long time since I have updated this blog site...and a lot has been going on over the past few months, in Dili, around Timor-Leste and during some overseas visits as well....

At the beginning of May, I visited a place called Tasi Tolu which is near Dili - I had been before but this time I remembered my camera! It's a nice walk up to the top of a hill where there is a huge statue of the Pope (not the current one, the one before...)....starting with a lovely view of the beach and nearby hills....

....then to see the big man himself....

...and then I chatted with these cute kids who wanted to pose :-)

On the way back through Dili, I had to stop and wait for a huge student demonstration to go by - there were about 30 or 40 trucks like this, on their way to Palacio Governo (Governor's Palace) for a march - I guess this is Timor-Leste's version of Thailands 'red shirts'? Hmmmm......
