A Glimpse of Bangladeshi People & Programs

One of the best parts of my time in Bangladesh was being able to get a glimpse into the lives of the Bangladeshi people. As I mentioned before, everywhere I went, people were very welcoming - and also very curious about me! Each place I visited, large crowds came out to meet me - and even when I was discreetly trying to observe their various community development programs, the focus of attention inadvertently turned to me, which I found a bit disconcerting at first but then I realized that they were just as curious about me as I was about them :-) I learned so very much during my visit, and I look forward to returning someday soon...

Here's a few more photos of some of the people and programs that I visited...

This is a photo of a community doing something called 'wealth ranking' to identify the most vulnerable people in their village...

This is a photo of children singing a song about children's rights...

This is a photo of people learning about how to set up a small business...

This is a photo of children presenting a play about how to avoid disease by washing their hands before eating....

And this is a photo of a Community Based Organisation waiting to start their monthly meeting - they were looking at me as their chief had just asked me to tell them about the situation in Timor-Leste...
