After 36 hours in transit, from Dili, Timor-Leste, through Bali and Jakarta, Indonesia, and finally through Dubai, I arrived in the UK last Saturday afternoon to a warm and sunny day (unfortunately, the nice weather did not last long - it was back to rain for most of the week...)
It seems surreal that this time last week I was having supper by sunset at a beach restaurant in Dili - but to be fair, this whole week has been a little odd, especially as I have been struggling with bad jet lag, a viral infection I caught on the way home and some reverse culture shock....

But being in Dili for a few days was great - I got to explore the city, spend time in my new office, meet many of the staff, and even visit the house I will be moving into when I return in August. Driving from the airport to the city, I caught a glimpse of the ocean and some nice beaches & the drive from the office to my house is beautiful....

The house is in a pretty 'posh' part of Dili, 3 blocks from the beach, with running water/hot water, flush toliet (a step up from Aceh!), A/C, 3 bedrooms, a large living room and dining area, a pretty functional kitchen, 24 hour security guard and neighbours that keep pet monkeys :-) - come and visit!

It's hard to believe I will be living in Dili this time next month - eek!
I guess I better get back to packing! Am off to Canada for about 10 days to visit family & friends, YAY yet more flying! ;-)
Gnite!
